Membership Information

Membership is $90.00 p.a. (includes GST) from 01 April to 31 March the following year.

If you join between January and April, the fee is $120.00 and that will see you through to the end of this and the next financial year.

When you first join you will also need to buy a club singlet or teeshirt, and shorts. Club uniform is compulsory for Sunday pack runs. See Relleke on Sunday morning to view and for details of sizes.

First Timers

On your first visit to the club, please ask at the desk for the Club Captain who will place you in an appropriate pack. We're a friendly bunch and will make sure you feel welcome.

We encourage you to run with us twice as a guest after which we ask that you join the club in order to continue receiving the benefits of our training and support system. You can either download the application form or complete an online one.

The YMCA Marathon Club membership is separate from Y-Fitness gym membership. You don't have to be a Y-Fitness gym member to run with us. However, you are most welcome to also become a Y-Fitness gym member, if you choose, in order to benefit from their equipment, programmes and classes.

Drink Stops

We all carry something to drink from and request you do too. Most popular are zip-lock bags, small tetrapaks or juice pouches with the top cut off as these are all easy to carry in your pocket or tucked into your waistband.

They're quick to fill up from a tap, which helps the pack get through drink stops quicker. Some packs can have up to 32 runners so you can imagine how long it would take if we all cupped our hands under the tap to drink.

For the longer runs you may like to carry an energy supplement gel or two, such as a Leppin Squeezy.  These can be purchased on Sunday's from our reception desk, a box of 10 is $15:00

There's no need to carry water with you... we stop every half hour for water and know every runner-friendly service station and toilet block that exists!

Club Uniforms

The Club uniform comprises of;

- A yellow singlet or t-shirt with blue and red side inlays and the Club logo in the middle of the chest. A Club crop top is also available.

- Shorts, skirts or tights that are red (or predominately red) or black (or predominately black).

If you are a member of Athletics NZ and are participating in Athletics NZ Championship events, you are to wear the registered Club uniform, which is the Club singlet (t-shirt) with red (or predominately) red shorts, at the Athletics NZ events.

When you first join you will need to buy a club singlet or t-shirt, which is compulsory for Sunday pack runs. The club also has the uniform red shorts which you can buy from us or you can purchase the other options from any retailer or e-store.

Marathon Build-ups

We have two build-ups each year, one for the Rotorua Marathon in Apr/May and one for the Auckland Marathon in Oct/Nov. Each build-up is 14 weeks and includes a seminar for first-timers towards the end of the build-up. After that, you're ready to go!
